Abstract

This study is a literature review aimed at examining and analyzing the concept of professional ethics in teaching practice. Professional ethics refers to a set of norms and values that serve as guidelines for teachers’ professional behavior in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. In the educational context, teachers function not only as instructors but also as educators, mentors, and role models for students. This study reviews various relevant literature on the principles of professional ethics, such as responsibility, honesty, fairness, and integrity, as well as how these principles are applied in teaching practice. The findings indicate that a strong understanding and implementation of professional ethics significantly influence the quality of the teaching and learning process, interpersonal relationships within the school environment, and the character development of students. Moreover, violations of professional ethics can have negative consequences for both teachers and educational institutions as a whole. Therefore, continuous efforts are needed to instill ethical values in teacher education programs and to support the ongoing development of teacher professionalism in the field.
